Support Information

stock-photo-16675787-help-and-support-crosswordThe Compassionate Friends is here to help. We offer support, friendship and hope for the future through a number of initiatives that provide grieving families across NSW with the support they need.

The emphasis of our support is based on peer support contact. This can include organised seminars, the annual residential, group sessions, individual contacts between members, calling the York Street Centre, and contacting Chapter leaders.

Monthly Support Group Meetings

stock-photo-20568259-diverse-group-of-people-meeting-indoorsThere are a number of Monthly support group meetings held at the York Street Centre that operate as Chapters or Social Groups. Bereaved family members are warmly invited to attend these group meetings. Newly bereaved parents and siblings are encouraged to ring the Centre and schedule a time for a one on one meeting before attending a group.

Please note; Chapter Leaders & volunteers at TCF NSW offer friendship, comfort and understanding. They are not trained counsellors, but people like you with a shared, lived experience of losing a child, grandchild or sibling. If you are further along in your grief, you may be able to offer support to others who are more newly bereaved.

In consideration for other bereaved parents, we ask you not to bring your babies and young children to the Centre or to support group meetings. We thank you for understanding.

Details for the monthly support meetings are as follows but please refer to the News/Events section of our website for the next meetings:
